The concept and inspiration for Light Squared Circles is an electronic musical instrument known as the Tenori-On. The device's interface is a 16x16 matrix of circular lights housed in a square frame. Music is composed through manipulation of the lights.

All sounds heard in the compositions are exclusive to the Tenori-On (except for the human vocals on "Light" and "Now" and the trumpet on "Squaring Circles") . The songs are unedited examples of Tenori-On performances.
